The OEM fuel and temp gauges are decent gauges but they don't tend to hold up very well. The lenses on them eventually cloud up and delaminate over time. Because of this I replace them on my K bikes with VDO gauges.

 

The VDO gauges are the correct diameter to fit K bikes and they are easy to connect to the BMW wiring.

 

The VDO gauge part numbers are 301-107 for the fuel gauge and 310-105 for the temperature gauge. They are currently out of production but show up on Ebay quite often.

 

Here's how to wire them:

 

 

The VDO gauges come with red and green condoms for the backlight bulb. Put the green condom on the backlight bulb in order to match the green backlighting of the K instrument cluster.
